Certified Officer in Quality Assurance of Higher Education Training (Tier 1)

19th August 2024, Sarawak - Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) has participated in the 'Certified Officer in Quality Assurance of Higher Education Training Program Tier 1 : Quality Assurance Landscape and Outcome-Based Education' programme organised by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) for six (6) days starting from 19 to 24 August 2024 at Riverside Majestic Hotel, Sarawak. The programme ware attended by Prof. Ir. Dr. Abd. Rahim Abu Talib (Director of CQA), Associate Prof. Dr. Noor Syamilah Zakaria (Deputy Director of Academic Quality Assurance) and Miss Aidawati Ramali (Head of Programme Data Section). The objective of the programme is to produce Certified Quality Assurance Officers who are capable in managing internal quality assurance and continuous quality improvement at the departmental level in accordance with the relevant regulatory standards and institutional aspirations. In addition, during the MQA Engagement Session with the Self-Accredited PPT at Multimedia University (MMU) on 20th April 2024, the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir also suggested that the staff placed at the Centre for Quality Assurance  at the university must be skilled and equipped the staff with MQA accredited training. Among the instructors who conducted the sharing session were Mr. Abdul Saman Taip (Director, Malaysian Quality Assurance Training Center, MQA), Mr. Kamarul Bakri Abd Aziz (Head, Integrity and Enforcement Unit, MQA) and Sr. Ir. Dr. Suhaimi Abdul Talib. Throughout the training session, participants were exposed to three (3) modules namely: Quality Assurance and Regulatory Instrument OBE: Philosophy, Formulation of LO and Constructive Alignment Curriculum Design, Delivery and Programme Review   In order to test the level of understanding and competence, after completing the programme, participants were given tasks and had to pass the Tier 1 task to be eligible to proceed to Tier 2 and then to Tier 3 to complete themselves towards becoming a Certified Quality Assurance Officer.
