Penyertaan CQA dalam Sayembara Puisi Merdeka Inter PTJ

22nd August 2024, Serdang - In conjunction with the 2024 Independence Day celebration with "Malaysia Madani : Jiwa Merdeka" theme, the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) has submitted an entry for the Inter-PTJ Independence Poetry Competition as part of UPM Semarak Merdeka Programme 2024 organised by the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS), UPM. This participation aims to ignite, nurture and cultivate patriotic spirit among UPM campus community. A total of 53 entries from various Responsibility Centres (PTJ) had participated in the competition. Mrs. Nurainakmal Kamal Bahrin, Senior Assistant Registrar has represented the Centre for Quality Assurance in the competition which took place on 22th August 2024 at the Experimental Hall, PKKSSAAS, UPM with a poem entitled “Pahlawan Kemerdekaan”, a poem composed by Usman Awang as follows:
	Hero! If you are lost without a grave, If your grave is without a name, If your name is without flowers, Colonizers call you a traitor, Then you are the true hero. Echoes from a century ago, The English came through Pahang, With bullets, with rifles, Killing and capturing every fighter. The Semantan River turned red, Not the debris flowing to the estuary, Not rafts moving upstream, Its red current lifts the bodies, Hero of the nation, hero of the people, Seven wounds in your chest. Hero! For you, suffering; for you, imprisonment, Not stars pinned to your chest, Your spirit is the fire of a sovereign nation, Your name is etched in the hearts of the people. By: Usman Awang
